Anyway, last year I wrote about MGMT and about how they are going to be huge etc... I put it on an online magazine for a project I did in class which is one of the factors that inspired the blog. Anyway, seeing them on the cover of Spin Magazine is pretty exciting! MGMT article from early last spring; issue one of Charm If you are too lazy to click the link, here's what I wrote:
What is so attractive about the CD, aside from the scruffy good looks of Goldwasser and VanWyngarden, is that each song can stand on its own. Tragic and euphoric “Kids,” has been compared by fans to Shel Silverstein’s book The Giving Tree. Nonsensical lyrics set to shimmering synthesized instruments, complete with kids playing in the background, stands out capturing conflicting emotions flawlessly. “Electric Feel,” shines with confidence and gives the feeling of swaggering through the disco looking for a good time.

I'd love to interview them someday, until then here is what was published in Spin

I'm bored by them. Good album yes, but a weak live performance which is my biggest turn off. Lets see if they can put out a second good album.
unfortunately I doubt it. there is a serious lack of bands that hit it big quick and then fizzle out as quickly as they buzzed.
its this one-album-wonder phenomenon in new indie bands. sucks, but at least there will be another band coming along to shake things up.
I secretly hope they have a great 2nd album, but they never set out to really pursue this, it was originally a joke (hence why they suck live). READ THE SPIN ARTICLE!!!!
